Unpopular opinion?

I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not but the only good MCU movies are:

-The Incredible Hulk
-Thor: Ragnarok
-The Captain America films
-Ant-Man 1&2
-Avengers: Age of Ultron

Granted, I haven't seen all of them, but that's partly because I was never really sold on the MCU. I consider myself an open minded person but I'm just not big on trying something when knowing what it's about and not liking the premise. A lot of times you can tell something is going to be bad and you're grateful you didn't waste your time seeing it. Just a reminder I'm only talking about the MCU, not Marvel.

I thought Black Panter was okay. I only saw it once. I used to love their version of the Spider-Man films, but looking back they're not as great as I once thought. Although No Way Home was amazing in that it was a complete love letter to the previous Spider-Mans. Shang-Chi was actually pretty cool.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT...ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH YOU COMMENT IS..."A lot of times you can tell something is going to be bad and you're grateful you didn't waste your time seeing it."...MOVIES ARE ART AND ART IS SUBJECTIVE...IN MY OPINION THE MCU DOES NOT HAVE A SINGLE "BAD" FILM...THEY HAVE ALL BEEN GOOD TO GREAT. Well, plenty of times I've been pleasantly surprised when giving a movie a chance that I think I won't like. I think a big part of the problem is that I'm not a fan of all the characters. Take Iron Man. They're all very well-made films. Good acting, great script. I just don't really like Iron Man. So by "good," I mean in the way that I see it, not that they're bad. Although I'd argue that there are a couple of pretty bad ones. I purposely didn't clarify that in my post because it's just my personal opinion, I'm not saying everyone should think the same way as me. That would be terrible lol.

I've seen all of the MCU movies and I would consider the majority of them to be at least good.

Personally I think most of them have great moments but are filled with generic fanfare.

Sorry- Old Guy here- one foot in the grave not up on new stuff- what is MCU?

reply

MCU is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so take movies like Iron Man and beyond, such as The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, etc. They are all supposed to be connected.

Movies like the older Spider-Man's (2002-07 from Sam Raimi) or the X-Men franchise (2000-) are not considered part of the MCU, but are Marvel movies.

Ah thanks for the quick reply and clearing that up for me punkrockgirl.
I actually deliberately stopped watching Superhero films more than 10 years ago. I find them just infantile. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 and enjoyed them because they were about space and good fun. But then my kids made me watch the third one where half the population of the universe got vapourised. And it was just a ticking-the-boxes piece of crap. No heart in the film at all or even any logic.
I am a child of the 1960s and grew up reading DC and Marvel comics. I don't believe the original comic characters back then were intended to be linked at all.
The makers of the films just want you to think they are because it helps to sell their product. Don't fall for it!

That's good on you! I never even cared to watch Guardians of the Galaxy, but I can see your appeal to it. I also intentionally never wanted to watch Infinity War/Endgame because the whole population getting whipped out plot turned me off completely. Watching older Marvel movies not connected to the MCU have given me a much bigger appreciation to their actual filmmaking after I compare them to all the MCU movies cranked out. I'm very young so it's nice to have a different perspective from an older comic book fan.
