why do think that movie is the best or better then the other ones
I feel like when it comes to movies specifically about the holocaust those are the big ones people talk about
(i posted this on the general discussion forum but realized film general would be better for it)

shareBecause I already know that The Holocaust was bad. I already know that slavery (Amistat, Roots) was bad. I need no more schooling. I need no more pain. I read The Brothers Karamozov in grade school. I’ve taken all the art-induced suffering I need. Candidly, I was shocked by how many people, after they saw the Roots mini-series on TV, said they had “no idea” how bad slavery was. Geez, how stupid are you? It’s fucking slavery! How bad was The Holocaust?! Do you even know what the fucking word MEANS?!
I respect your question, Buck, and have zero problem with it. I am answering honistly. I think it’s a shame that some think that others need to be educated about evil so palpable that a doberman pincher can understand it instantly.
Then there are the prison movies—Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile—I will never watch because I don’t care about prisoners. I just don’t. Castigate me. I do not care.

To be fair though Andy Dufresne was innocent in "Shawshank Redemption", plus it's one of the best movies ever made. So it's definitely your loss.
John Coffey was also innocent in "The Green Mile". A very good movie in its own right.
I used to look at it like Kane. The holocaust was terrible, everyone knows that. No one wants anything like that to happen again. It why I refused to go to the holocaust museum when I was in DC. Events of the last few years have shown me I was wrong. The amount of anti-semitism from major politicians and people I meet has surprised me. I’m shocked by people who deny that it ever occurred. I was not there, but I have friends (now gone) who were there in the camps. Now, I see that people need to be reminded. It’s not to dwell on it or make people feel bad. It’s to say we cant let things like this happen.
shareHey Buck, I watched all 3 movies and they are all great in their own ways, but indeed very different. They all portray the bleakness of the war and the holocaust, but in different ways. Life is beautiful takes a humorous approach to deal with the war because the dad needs to protect his son from knowing what is happening and is therefore creatively excellent.
Schindler's list is beautiful and so full of emotion. The ending is great, however I do not think it is creatively as good as life is beautiful because it is based on a true story and most people know what actually happened in real life.
The pianist is just all around sad, for me the toughest to watch. Especially because we see some morals from the Nazi soldier, who bring him food, but we see the lack of morals in the pianist in the end of the movie, when he does not help the same nazi soldier who helped him.
All in all the movies were great, however I would most likely rewatch the Schindler's list from the three and so it is my favourite...
