OT: Post your best writing FG . . .

. . . From Pierson's Landing we went by boat, and a runabout from whatever lodge we chose to stay at would take us the rest of the way. The trip in the runabout usually took about 20 minutes, and during the ride, I would study the dark green waves on the lake and the rounded, lichen-covered granitic bedrock at the water's edge, and the weed beds along the shoreline, and the forests of pine and birch that rose up away from shore that seemed to stretch on forever, and I would deeply breathe in the clean crisp air, and it was then, that I really felt I was finally back in Canada . . . .

Now don't take this the wrong way, that's some very nice, descriptive writing, but if that's truly your best then don't give up the day job! You paint a lovely picture but your finest should really shine through in the expression of your ideas and the conveying of emotions. Keep working at it, your prose is good!

There are some backhanded compliments hidden in there. I'll take those.
