Did they ask us if we wanted the boards gone??? Did they ask anyone?
Who decided this? And why?
I'm not even using IMDb to rate after this, this site is worthless to me after February 20th. I mean what the f--k is the point in rating films? Having a list of films recorded? We have great discussions here. *beep* IMDb. Dicks.I agree with you completely! And so many people are calling for moderated boards, which I completely disagree with. Admin's get in the way of discussions, because they let their own personal biases and prejudices influence the flow of ideas.
I prefer this system, where the users can think for themselves and say what they will, for the most part. And just ignore the people that they don't want to talk to. This is the best system, screw the admin system! This is the system that works. This is the system that leads to great discussion.
And like you, I don't see what the use of this site will be after February 20. What, just for film lists? Admittedly, I loved having my film was so my profile, to show them off. But I think the only people would be interested in looking at the other people I'm having a movie discussion with, just out of curiosity to click on my profile. After that, they'll be nobody to show them off to. So this is sad all the way around.
I predict that this decision will cause the end of IMDb eventually. The site won't even exist anymore, unless they reverse this decision.
Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!
