→RULES←

- Remember that whatever actor or actress you receive, you get them for all of their films released this year. For example, if you were to get Andrew Garfield as an actor you'd get him for Hacksaw Ridge and Silence, and any nominations he receives for any of those performances would grant you points.

- This does not mean you get these actors or actresses for anything else besides acting. They are only awarded points for their performances. So people like Leonardo DiCaprio do not get points for producing, nor Ben Affleck for directing. Only acting.

- Don't forget ensemble prizes go toward your actor/ actress as well. Last year, someone like Liev Schreiber or Stanley Tucci could get you a good chunk of points whenever Spotlight was nominated for ensemble prizes across the awards circuits.

- Another thing is always keep technical awards in mind with your films. They're not always the first ones we think of in terms of predictions, but Visual Effects, Sound Design or Cinematography Awards occasionally get recognized with critics and have whole guilds dedicated to them. So, say you have something like The Jungle Book or Rogue One as one of your films - expect plenty of points come time for the guilds and Oscar nomination day.

- Don't forget documentaries and foreign films exist, too. And often times get their own category dedicated to them. So, things like 13th and/or Toni Erdmann could get you just as many points as one of those technical-savvy films.

- Also, don't forget that there will always be films in your league that could be picked up, like "free agents." So, say you look through everyone's teams and realize no one has Moana. Well, you may want to get that sh!t because it could get you a lot of points (not just for animated film nominations, but for song as well).

- This also works for “trading” picks. Say you can see into the future and know that Viola Davis will in fact win the Oscar for Fences, but someone else has her, and you really want to get rid of Nicole Kidman because she’s just not getting noticed by critics like you thought she would. You can attempt to negotiate a trade with another member of your team for their pick. Of course, they have to consent to it, and then both of you have to let the me know that your player has been traded. No back alley deals on my time . (Also: these trades can only be made from category to category. You must have 3 films, actors, and actresses at all times. You cannot trade a film for an actor or actress, and vice versa.)

- People are allowed to make as many changes before the Indie Spirit nominations (November 22nd). After that, only 3 changes are allowed per team (simultaneous trades count as one), and that is until January 1st. This is to try and prevent the game from becoming a "first-come-first-served" game where whoever calls for a film first (for a specific award coming up) ends up winning. The date is also one where by then we should have a reasonably decent idea of how things are going, and if people have a film that's under-performing they should know by then; it also gives time, there's still a bunch of critic awards after that date.

- The awards that will be counted are those on the list. Any not on it will be ignored (unless given notice beforehand, such as with some of the critics awards). Please let me know if there's any award missing that you think we should consider that is not in the list, or vice versa. For the guilds, it is specified which ones are going to be considered.

- The most important thing is to just have fun, but be creative. You don't have to stick with what you've got. If it's not working; if you're noticing a trend with a different film; if something picks up speed, get on its coattails. The picks may have been about luck of the draw, but to win it's about strategy. So do your best, have fun and always stay active.

10 points/5 points
• All ensemble recognitions. SAG Ensemble is the only one worth 20 points for a win and 10 for a nomination.

There is also the potential of getting an extra 5 bonus points for a sweep. This means if you get points for all three of your films OR all three of your actors OR all three of your actresses for a single awards circuit, then you get an extra 5.
