$10 isn't even that much

Nope. But some people still wouldn't be willing to pay them. I asked this on Film Forum and many said no, they wouldn't give them money cause they would be greedy to expect us to pay for something thats always been free

If that would help them maintain server costs and update the forums, and perhaps hire some real moderators rather than relying on the automatic reporting system, then yeah - I'd be fine with that.

Forums just don't generate much revenue - the ads they get for the forums aren't enough to sustain the forums. But IMDb does get revenue from other features. And most users never visit the forums - however, I'd wager those who use the forums use the site's other features far more. That's kind of the catch.
