The only movies of his that stand out (i.e. 7/10 or higher) for me are...

1.Road to Perdition (2002) - 10/10
2.The Green Mile (1999)
3.Forrest Gump (1994) - 8/10
4.Captain Phillips (2013) - 7/10

there is more i like but those stand out from the pack. the first two movies are within my Top 14 movies and the #3 movie is within my Top 73 movies and my #4 movie is within my Top 213 movies.

p.s. no need to list why simply because it's common sense people ultimately pick their movies based on how much they enjoy watching them.

P.S. There is a reason to explain why you like a movie. The OP specifically asked for why you liked said movies.

I do not understand why people are adverse to explaining what it is they liked about a movie. Do they fear their own ability to express a thought in a coherent manner?

Also m-slovak79 if someone likes a movie, and they are a thinking person, then they should be able to explain what aspects of the movie they really enjoy. This is common sense....

1. Forest Gump (1994) - A career defining performance and perhaps the most iconic film of the last twenty-five years. Tells a wonderful story that everyone seems to be able to relate to.

2. Philadelphia (1993) - For me this is Hanks strongest performance. The film seems really realistic, and I like how it captures America's attitudes towards HIV/AIDS at the time. Also, a really good ensemble cast.

3. Saving Private Ryan (1998) - Incredible cast and a really pretty film to watch.

4. Saving Mr. Banks (2013) - Obviously not as popular as the others, but I love the simplicity of this film. Also the chemistry between Hanks and Thompson worked well for me.

5. The Green Mile (1999) - I think the dark atmosphere of this film lends it a sort of mysterious significance that in and of itself makes the movie special to me.

If I have more thoughts about any of the films I will post an edit.

The 'Burbs - Great atmosphere and awesome supporting cast
Turner & Hooch - Fun take on the buddy cop movie
Dragnet - Seeing Dan Aykroyd try to play it straight is awesome, and the movie is lots of fun
Big - Nice blend of drama and comedy, and the storyline is really unique and fun
The Money Pit - Love the idea for the movie, and it's pulled off nicely. Funny movie all around.

Don't give up the fight for truly independent cinema!

i am not great at explaining all of what i feel about a movie. so i just let the score do the talking.

basically... some of us are much better at expressing our thoughts/feelings into words than others are. i was never really that great at it so, like i said above, i just let the score do the talking.

but with Road to Perdition it's got great cinematography as like i have said before not only does it have great moments visually those also happen to be great moment in the movie to. Road to Perdition is my go to movie when i think great cinematography. also, i think the movies score helps boost the movie to.

I love big, but not believable - he acts more like a 6 year-old than a 13 year old in his adult body.
