Solved: British horror movie: Haunted, 1995
Hi folks,
some years ago I watched a movie on TV which I would like to find on DVD... Story is as follows: A doctor (psychiatrist, I think) who lives in -or near- London is called for help; an old lady lives together with some younger relatives in a remote, big, castle-like house, and one of these young people tells the doctor something like, "my aunt has told me so often that there are ghosts in the house, but - of course there are none; it's all in her imagination - can you please help my poor aunt?"
So the doctor travels to the country and tries to figure out what is (or is not) going on there...
The movie is in colour, maybe from the 1990s or a bit earlier; it is set in England and possibly was made by a British director, too; the events are set in the 1920s or early 1930 (as far as I can tell, considering the old cars and the beautiful steam locomotive which can be seen, and the people's clothing)...
I don't want to give away too much, so that the movie won't get "spoiled" for anyone who hasn't watched it - but one thing is for sure: In the end we know that most things aren't as they seemed at the beginning... Really a good movie, gave me lots of chills down my spine, and there's no blood & gore effects at all. No spectacular effects like in "Poltergeist" either. For a time it even goes somewhat slow; the story gets developed in a more subtle way until there's a very uncomfortable feeling of tension and suspense - and in the end it comes to a great showdown...
I hope that tis time I'll have more luck with my actual question than I had with some others which have remained unsolved... ;-)
Kind regards
