African tribe movie with a white guy need help finding?

So now that Imdb is out. I cant go there and spam the boards. So now Im doing it here. Ive been having trouble finding this film I saw a few years ago. I think I had found it but lost it again. I cant seem to remember it much. Here is what I know. There was a specific scene where a white guy was trying to hid in the mud of a jungle and a tribesman Im sure saw him and pretended he didnt. I think the tribes man even helped him out later on. The film has an independent type feel to it. For sure arthouse. I think I read that the film was a box office flop. I dont remember it having any famous actors in it. The movie was very slow moving. Almost didnt have much dialog. Im not even sure if its a foreign film. OKay here is what Else I remember. I remember seeing it in the mgm channel so I think it must be an mgm film. It might also be a miramax. I think the title might be short and have the directors name in it. I think the film might be early 90`s. The quality of the film was very well made. It had very beautiful scenery and it had a great widescreen. It sort of reminded me of out of africa. With the tribesman that befriended him having his face painted white. I remember the movie having felt long. Dont know how long it was. Ive looked at almost every list online. Google, imdb, african, tribesman, white man in african tribe, mud movies, and even have tried using the searches here. so far nothing. Im sure some of you movie buffs wont have a problem finding it.
