Tv show Trio solving mysterious cases 90s

This one bugs me for a while.

It aired around early 90s. An older man (a professor? ), a young man and a woman (redhead) were solving crimes, but there was something magical I think.
They used to search in old books, and were often in an old library I think.

Was the show British?

Loved that show -- Robey was the redhead. My grad school roommate and I would watch the re-runs on Sci-Fi channel in the later 90s. In October they would have fun marathons for Halloween.

Yes! And that one I think had Catherine Disher who was also in Forever Kniht, another fun horror/fantasy show.
